Hello there and welcome.
I’m a Christian Suspense writer who tells the stories of the spiritually abused, bringing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus to our darkest moments of confusion and pain.
Every day, the true stories of abuse and cult survivors inspire me into a deeper pursuit of Jesus. I hope to bring these true (but fictionalized) stories to a wider audience to remind all of us to embrace the precious truths of the gospel.
I live in North Carolina with my husband and three children. I spend my days cultivating the imaginations of my kiddos and strive to make use of naptimes and early mornings for my own musings, reading, and writing.

Q&A
When did you start writing?
My love for writing began when I started a journal at the age of 10, a habit I’ve kept faithfully for nearly two decades. In high school, I took the One Year Adventure Novel program and completed several novels full of teenage dystopian angst!
Why do you write about spiritual abuse? Doesn’t that give Christians a bad rap?
Spiritual abuse is far more prevalent than we realize. My entire safe Christian world was turned upside down when I befriended someone in a horrific Christian cult. It didn’t take long for me to go deeply into the subject, discover Jesus in a new light, and hold the precious truths of the gospel more tightly than ever before. I started going on mission trips within the US that specifically targeted those in abusive religious systems and even worked with a Christian Apologetics ministry on a college campus for a few years.
Sometimes we don’t realize how precious the gospel is until it’s been twisted to abuse others. It’s vitally important that we arm ourselves against vicious attacks and twistings—both from without and within.
I’m a nerd (and perhaps a traitor to the fiction world), but I prefer reading nonfiction in my spare time. I realize most people aren’t going to pick up giant books on theology and Christian apologetics. I hope that both my love of fiction writing and theology and apologetics can provide a new perspective in the Christian Suspense world. Through the power of story, my goal is to highlight where churches and religious groups can harm the gospel and, more importantly, show the hope of the freedom we find in the true Jesus.
What are some of your favorite books?
Oh, tough one. I’ve truly loved some autobiographies I’ve read of individuals who left cults, but aside from those, I always turn back to Jane Eyre. I’m completely convinced that story is *not* primarily a gothic romance but is actually centered on the theme of spiritual abuse.
All of Jane Austen’s books bring me immense cozy joy.
The Lord of the Rings continues to bring me to tears at the sheer beauty of its messaging.
Till We Have Faces is profound every. single. time.
What about movies and TV?
I actually don’t watch a lot of movies or TV, but I tend to gravitate toward stories that are character-driven. Before having kiddos, I’d watch shows like The Man in the High Castle. Something switched in my brain after having three kids and I’m far more sensitive than I used to be.
More recently, I really enjoyed PBS’s recent Maigret series (and am looking forward to the release of more!) and shows like Downton Abbey and Miss Scarlet. Period dramas and mysteries pretty much sum up my taste, but I tend to keep media pretty mild in general.
(And of course I have to throw The Lord of the Rings in there, but that feels like cheating 🙂 )
What are some nonfiction recommendations?
Some of my top Christian nonfiction recommendations would be Happy Lies by Melissa Dougherty, Another Gospel by Alisa Childers, The God of Story by Daniel Schwabauer, and Reimagining Apologetics by Justin Bailey. You also can’t go wrong with Chuck Colson’s How Now Shall We Live? and C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity.
I also love the autobiographies by Lynn Wilder (Unveiling Grace), Jill Dugger (Counting the Cost), and Nabeel Qureshi (Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus).
When do you expect to be published?
My goal is to be in the process of approaching publication in a couple of years. Lord willing, sooner than that, but I want to be patient with the process and do it right. As of fall of 2026, I’m currently revising the first book for Project “D.” While I wait for feedback in between drafts, I’ll be outlining future novels in the same project. I’ll be querying in the spring of 2027 and plan to attend a couple conferences next year as well.
